Just trying to think is there a way on a Cisco 3560Switch (should be the same on most others) of finding out an IP Address of a device connected to one of the ports.

For example say i have a device connected to port 12 on the Cisco Switch is there anyway i can find the IP via concole command?

Thanks

I think "show arp" works on newer models of switches. (shows ip address as well as mac)

EDIT: Sorry... you'll need to do Show mac-address-table first to find what mac is on what port.

Depends if the Switch is doing any Layer3, if its only acting as a Layer2 switch then No, you will have to go to the next Layer 3 device to get the IP.
