Hi,

Just want to know if it's normal to have one core running 4-5 degrees hotter than the other? CPU is a Skt939 4400+. I was testing with two instances of Super-PI and both cores were at 100% usage. Temps were took using coretemp.

Just wondering if my AS5 maybe hasn't spread everywhere it's needed. I followed the AS5 online instructions - 1.5 grains of rice sized blob in the middle, attach HSF and twist both ways. HSF is Freezer 64 Pro.

Cheers :)

Mines about the same....think its normal as the 2 cores spread the workload between them tho not necessarily evenly...(i think)

Ok, thanks. That's an awesome overclock btw  Water cooling? My 4400+ won't get near 2.6 GHz on stock volts.

Thanks.. Haven't gone the w/c route yet. Lots of air and fans!!!...Zalmann CNPS8000 CPU cooler, 1x 120mm above cpu cooler blowing out...1x 90mm below the 120 blowing in onto graphics, 2x 90mm infront sucking in, 90mm at back blowing out and an exhuast in pci slot below the g/c blowing out. . With the o/c I got stuck at 2400 but found out that it was my memory and HTT holding me back. Adjusted HTT down to x3 and memory to 133. I've only just upped my v to 1.375 tho it would run on stock 1.35
My system is still quite new and still a newbie at o/c'ing. Got all info from OcUK forum members. Thinking of upgrading soon tho... backed into a corner with cpu choice and memory..939 and DDR400. Need to go AM2/DDR2...

It's normal stuff. Sometimes the silver heatspreader doesn't contact both cores evenly which results in slightly different temps.

Or it could be that...

Okeydokey, thanks.

I still might redo the AS5 since I think I used a bit too much and I only used tissues for cleaning the underneath of the HSF, and although it looked very clean I'm sure it's not the same as using something like TIM clean. Also it took a while to get the HSF clipped on, working in such a small space, so it may have squidged the AS5 all over. I should have removed the video card to do it.

My 165 was the same. Always a few degrees warmer regardless.

This was with a lapped Thermaltake Big Typhoon in a Lian Li PC-101B with the case side:
