Hi all

Quick question to those in the know :D Can CS source be downloaded free if you buy halflife 2 (like the original) or must you buy both games?

Not unless CS:S is specifically within the pack that you buy. If you're buying HL2 purely on its own, you won't even get HL2:DM, never mind CS:S.
 
I got cs:s free with hl2 when I bought it (I got it on DVD) :) was when it was released tho and I notice there are loads of different packs out now.

I bought the cheapest HL2 pack over Steam and I am sure CS:S was actually sold as the 'multiplayer component' of HL2... right - and that HL2: DM was free... or was I hallucinating?
 
Depends on the package. I know CS:S is now sold in the shops on its own. I got mine bundled with HL2. I have many steam games. I like the steam platform, no disks needed in the drives . . . automatically downloads updates . . . etc. However, I dont like Valve and their constant need to break games. But thats another thread entirely :p .
 
How recently? The packs have changed now, and to me, it looks like the basic version doesn't include any multiplayer.

And I forgot about actual hard copies of the game. If you're buying it in the shop, I honestly have no idea if you get CS:S or not.
 
oh this was like 2005 xmas, mum bought me it ;)

its black, shows u css & hl2dm on back.

i also know that if u buy the css retail, u get dods,hl2dm with it, i bought it for my bro.
 
when i got mine, I brought of a guy who had brought it from thailand. He couldnt read it (obviously :rolleyes: ) so he put it on the bay.

He was offereing free postage. No one bidded thinking he had just nicked the code so I bidded a penny for a laugh.

I won :cool: and the CD-Key hadny been used :)

Hi all thanks for all the replys, lucky I asked on here as I was going to buy just basic HL2 for 15 quid. In the end I Bought the Game of the Year edition for £20 which contains.

*CS Source
*HL2 - Death match
*Half Life Source
Is half Life source a remake of the original on the source engine? (if so sounds good!)
