hi there,

currently have a D-tek fuzion on my q6600 quad socket 775 will this bolt straight on to the i7 socket? or can it be easily modded
?
cheers

you will need to purchase an adaptor so that it fits the socket, assuming d-tek make them as they are not listed on ocuk.

should be pretty simple from then onward.

You need the D-Tek FuZion Intel i7 LGA 1366 Pro-Mount Kit, or to use an X58 motherboard with socket 775 mounting holes, like the Asus P6T or some of the Foxconns.

-Tek FuZion Intel i7 LGA 1366 Pro-Mount Kit is what you want.

The fuzion won't bolt straight on without a kit being bought. Problem is the kits are around £14.

The problem is the d-tek fuzion, although still a decent waterblock, has now being superceeded by much better waterblocks which is why I sold mine for £20.

Personally i would sell the fuzion and put the £14 you were going to spend on the kit to buy a new block which will come with fittings for the i7. That gives you £34 to spend or maybe put a bit more to it depending on what your buying.

Good round up here:

Greebo what block are you using, I have same cpu as you with fuzion v1 (quad nozzle) is it worth changing mine.

I'm using the xspc v3 as it is a very unrestrictive block and suits the rest of my system since I have the gpu and nb on the same loop as the cpu.

Not sure it is worth changing yours as I have always stated in this forum, your whole watercooling system needs to be matched. However, the xspc v3 is a much better block than the fuzion v1 but not as good as the fuzion v2. You might see a degree of two of change. If that is going to get you a better overclock then please feel free to swap. If not, I'd keep what you have already.

My point to the op though, is he is looking at spending £14 plus postage just to use the block on his i7 so it's worth changing his to a better block for little or no money.

Thanks guys I think I will sell my D-tek v1 and just get a v2 but then i see you need a mount kit as well thats best part of £70 quid..

I know it's mean of them not to include fittings as standard with a new block like their rivals do.

Have you looked at the review I linked to? There are some very good coolers for the i7 complete with mounts for much less than a v2 with kit for £70.

Here's another roundup with some of the ones from the madshrimp review but including a fuzion so you can see how they compare.

As you can see the fuzion v2 came last so definitely not worth spending £70 inc a mounting kit to buy one.

The EK supreme can be had for £40 and and the superb Koolance can be had for £70 so take your choices.

To me selling your fuzion for around £20 and buying an EK supreme for £40 would be the best value for money and you see an improvement to boot as well. Even more massive if your block is the fuzion 1.

EDIT: And if you can find one then the heatkiller v3 at £70 is about 1 to 3c cooler than the EK supreme.
