I have a 2 gang 1 way switch on the two lights in my living room. The left hand switch currently operates the right hand light and the right hand switch operates the left hand light. I can do basic wiring, adding new sockets, replacing lights etc, but for some reason more than 1 gang and more than 1 way stitches confuse me! Obviously its a simple moving a wire job, I thought I understood it, but the more I think about it the more I doubt myself! Any help would be appreciated.

Cheers

Dave

I assume you want left switch to operate left light and right to operate right light? Then it's just a case if moving the pair over to which ever side you want it.

Unless you want both lights of one switch. Then it becomes fun.

Thanks, this is what I have at the moment.

Com at the top left is the power coming in, which has been linked to the com on the bottom right. Just switch L1 bottom left (blue but sleeved brown as it's switched line) with L1 top right.

Please ensure you have completely isolated the supply before doing so.

Essentially swap the two L1's? Thanks very much. I don't know why my brain can't cope with things like this. The more I think about what I need to do the more I doubt myself!

Thanks

Dave

Not sure on best practice but I had a similar thing a while ago and asked the electrician when he was at the property to sort it and he unscrewed both screws, turned the switch 180 degrees and put the screws back in!

off would be on and on would be off?

we are used to flicking the switch down when putting the light on - but it will work.

One of them was a 2 way swtich so didnt really matter what was up or down as the switch position would vary.

Glad it's not just me that thinks like that.
My spark has wired one of my switches like that, it's really annoying me and I need to go and swap it around.
He's also managed to put one switch in upside down.....
