Quick ethernet cable question

Hey there, quick questions as I'm in a rush to order

Belkin Cat5e Network Crossover Patch Cable 30m

This is a "Crossover Patch" cable, so I'm assuming this WOULDN'T work from Router to Computer?

I don't know why I'm thinking that so maybe someone could elaborate.

I need a very long cable, at-least 30m to connect a BT adsl modem to a computer. What should I be getting?

A crossover cable is generally used for networking one computer directly to another. Basically, a wire is switched over on each end.

You'd want a normal standard cat5e

Depending on your network card and modem, there's a decent chance a crossover cable would work fine.

I used to work in a computer shop in Canada, we'd sell a cable that cost us $0.89 for $16.98. Sad thing is our prices were about $8.00 cheaper than the big box stores.

a x-over cable would work fine as the port will detect which wires are doing what automatically.

the 30m cable is £12.91.

and as above, i've ran a crossover cable between my router and pc. no problem.

The £55 includes some iMac memory and other bits n bobs too

Tempted to take a walk to ******s, possibly because 30m may not be enough but I'm not too fussed about the price since It's for work.

If I get it from overclockers they can pay my delivery too

Not always, most newish ports will but older ones wont.
