just been comparing my console version to the pc version is there anyway to hotlink weapons and pick up dead bodies on the pc like there is on the console version

Do you mean like in a regular fps where the number keys correspond to a different weapon?

yeah that kinda thing on the 360 you use the D-Pad to quick select upto 8 items but can't find a hotkey option on the pc on the X box i think you hold RB then push the corresponding D-pad you require

thanx for that if you find out will you let me know as i get sick of trawling through the menu to pick my weapons mid fight

I guess that answers my question in which case from the weapon menu hold down the key you want to use and a box will appear then right click on the weapon.

I've not tried this in Fallout 3 - but I know in Elder Scrolls: Oblivion - when you look through your inventory - if you hold down a number (Such as 1) and then click the weapon - it hotkeys the weapon to that number. Give it a go :)

In Oblivion you can't swap while attacking someone - need to back away from them first.

FO3 has similar limitations, but less obvious. The most annoying one is that you can't swap weapons once reloading has started: bear that in mind when using single shot weapons like the rocket launcher (and the gauss rifle if you have the Operation Anchorage add-on) where reloading happens automatically after you fire. The same applies to any other animations, like banging on the weapon as the condition gets low.

The banging on the weapon is to clear a jam, it make ssence that you can't switch or fire without clearing the jam first.

Can't beleve I've played FO3 so long and didn;t realise the oblivion 1-8 linking actually worked, whoopsie me, I kept tabbing.

The weapon system is broken enough as it is. You unload most a weapon, switch, unload half that weapon, switch back and your first weapon has miraculously reloaded itself on your backpack.

Actually it makes no sense at all. In real life you have a monster bearing down on you and your your weapon jams. Do you a) spend five seconds banging on the mechanism to free it, or b) spend two seconds grabbing another weapon and sort the first gun out afterwards?
