After a recent format, Firefox hasn't been automatically logging into websites for me. When I type the first letter of my username, it remembers the username (and subsequently the password) and lets me log in, but if I navigate away and come back, Firefox forgets it again. The 'remember me' buttons on the sites are always checked.

I'm sure it's something daft, so put me out of my misery and tell me. :p

Thanks

Ah. Sounds like you've set Firefox to remember the forms data but you haven't let it remember the passwords so although it remembers your username and passwords it won't "log in" for you because FF should have asked you for permission to do this.

It normally shows a window with the option to Never remember the password, always remember the password or a sod off option (Not now) so it'll ask you again next time.

Go to Tools>Options and navigate to the Security tab. In the passwords section is the "Remember passwords" option checked? If it isn't, check it. If it is, the site(s) might be in the Exceptions list in which case you need to remove them from that and then visit the site again and FF should prompt you again for permission to remember your passwords.

Bit of a bump here, but I think I've discovered the cause of this problem: CCleaner was clearing the Firefox cookies, and with it was the login stuff. I can log into sites automatically as long as I've not used CCleaner since the last time I was on, so I'll go disable that option, and then all should be well. :)

Ah yes. I just tick most of the boxes on the first tab for IE and Windows. I don't bother with the FF/Opera etc etc options on the second tab.
