Hey guys, just wondered:

1. I have a XtremeMusic Soundcard, what's the deal with drivers on linux?

2. Quite similar to the first question, I have a 8600GT, what's the deal with drivers on linux?

Assuming it's the Sound Blaster X-Fi XtremeMusic card, Creative don't have any drivers for it and there have been a few moans that it wont detect under linux (no solutions that I can find at the moment)

The 8600GT isn't a problem though. linky (Ubuntu specific as that's what I run)

Ethernet will be automatically picked up... in fact, if you're using a well-supported distro such as Ubuntu you'll most likely be surprised at how much is automagically detected and configured ready for use.

For example, whenever I have to re-install Windows, I always seem to forget to install the drivers for my Epson RX420 printer/scanner until I need to print something and wonder why it's not working. Whenever I've had to reinstall Xubuntu, on the other hand, I've not had to think about it... I just click Print and Xubuntu is already aware of my printer and has everything ready to go.

Unless you've got a bleeding edge motherboard, you should be fine.
