Quick get a sub on !!!! + World Player of the Year Result

I doubt many people would disagree that Kaka deserved the award. He was the best player in the CL by a mile last season. Would love him at Liverpool.

whereas you would turn down messi and/or ronaldo?
pretty much a given that any team in the world would take any of them to be honest

Fair enough, I would have just though that people would at least recognise them from the papers/news/world cup/CL finals :)

I think it's also the fact that you most likely see these players in their sweaty kits with bits of grass on their forehead (esp Ronaldo). ;)

Seeing them just in regular clothes is always a weird one for me, esp with normal expressions on their face. I think I started a thread ages ago on how it seemed journalists chose photographs of footballers with the most "ohmygodit'sgoneupmybottom!!ONE!!" type of face.

And thanks Morthoseth, would never have got that :)

Messi looks like a right chav.

When they announced the winner did Kaka lift up his top and run around screaming "I BELONG TO JESUS" ?

wow kaka is 25, i thought he was young like messi and ronaldo, tbh i havnt heard kaka being mentioned at all since he was about 22-23 then.....the future is looking bright then for ronaldo and messi at there age like kaka said

Thats because SeriaA isnt covered much over here in the mainstream.
Bar a few games on Bravo(now C5), and the CL of course. :).

Even if Ronaldo had deserved it this year he would have never won it anyway. FIFA despise the English and our league and wouldn't go out of their way to admit the Premiership has the best players. No one can seriously suggest that since 1991 we've never had world's best playing here; Henry, Bergkamp, Cantona and Zola all could and arguably should have won it at least once.

You can't take these awards too seriously.

Too true, the players that have been in the premiership and none of them ever won, pretty much unbelievable. this year i think was one of the most clear cut though in my opinion, pretty much no arguments.

but yeh go down the years and theres a phew that you could argue with 1996 Alan shearer, in 2003 thierry henry should have won, and in many other eyes he should have won. beckham 1999 with the trebble on his back aswell.

gary lineker has been in there aswell somewhere think he came 3rd in one year

Spot on. :)

I wouldn't want to be in their company for the draw. I'd have wanted to punch them if I didn't win.

I agree with Kaka winning it but Ronaldo should have been a comfortable second, Messi had some outstanding moments last season but at times Ronnie was a one man team.
