Erm, at a computer.
I have just ordered the bits for my new machgine and have bought 1 x Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 500GB ST3500630AS SATA-II 16MB Cache.

What would be the best way for me to use this disk to get the best system performance. Partition? A partition for windows and games and the other for storage?

Stump up another few quid and get a second HD? would i notice a difference?

Any comments appreciated.

I dont believe in partitions apart from beta testing so you can have 2 OS (Dual Boot), some say you can just reinstall Windows only and not need reinstall all your APP's on the other partition if you get Virus etc, well most will not work as need wrote to the Windows folders and Registry so need reinstalled anyhow.

Four or five partitions would be good but it doesnt really improve performance, more reliability or flexibity

Yes two disks would be good as drives work best when transferring in one direction only. So reading from one drive and writing to another is much faster then using the one drive to do both at the same time.
