Recently got a new HDTV, which can display 1080i on my Xbox 360. What I'm wondering about is why it can't display 1080p? When I try to set it to 1080p, the screen just goes all funny, with a shade of green. I thought that if a TV could display interlaced 1080, it could also do the progressive version too? Could somebody try to explain things to me, I'm new to all this hdtv stuff :p

No, 1080i compatibility doesn't guarentee 1080p compatibility. You may even have a screen with 1920x1080 pixels that can't display 1080p, such as the Toshiba 37WLT67. Bit of a jip really.

Most screens are currently 1366x768, and tbh you can't cram much more information into that resolution when going from a 1080i->1080p source (should it be compatible, or scaled externally).
