Hi guys,

I'm off to look at a car tomorrow and the HPI check has come up with an "Interest registered against a previous plate"

Now the HPI check is on a Toyota Celica that was registered in 2002. Here's some text from the check:

**52*** was applied to this vehicle on 01/11/2005
There are no interests recorded against **52***

**PRIVATEPLATE** was applied to this vehicle on 01/07/2003
This VRM has been recorded as being written-off
The insurance write-off was recorded on 04/09/1992 against a TOYOTAMRZGT

**52*** was applied to this vehicle on 01/10/2002
There are no interests recorded against **52***

I just want to check my thinking is correct: Back in 1992, the owner of an old private plate wrote off their old Toyota MRZ(2?) GT, then this plate is always then tainted so if they ever transfer that plate to another car, the plate will get flagged in the car's history, is this right?

Thanks!

Dave

It's a 190 T Sport facelift. Will have a good look over the car anyway, but just wanted to make sure it's not some silly HPI error!

It's not a HPI error - this is what HPI does. It provides you with the history of the VRM's the vehicle has had associated with it.

contact the seller see what he says.
im not sure about cars but i think with bikes in the log book i would say if its a write off and what cat. i could be talking bull as i had a few last night lol.

I'm confused now. Is the car the OP going to see the one thats written off, or does it have a plate on it that was once on a car that was written off ?

Yeah it's nothing to worry about at all.

Insurance write off on the v5? Erm, no

:)

also having owned and still owning a celica
if its been crashed look at the front wings to see if the bolt still line up.
and in the rear, open the boot and you will see 2 plastic covers ( to access the rear ligh bulbs, )
and look at the inside of the wings for damage / repairs
