trying to fault find an old fujitsu scaleo T. Its got two DDR400 slots, and i have three 512 mb sticks, one kingston, one samsung, and one dane elec. All have the same timings @ 200mhz.

Running memtest on each stick sepeartely several times, there aint any errors. However, running any two sticks at a time throws up errors after 10mins or so. The samsung and dane-elec have been tested on another board as a pair with no errors. Does this mean the memory controller is buggered?

board is an OEM one: Gigabyte GA-I848PM with the F6 BIOS (latest i could find)

It could be, have you tried running one stick at a time but using the other slot?

good thinking, ill give that a go now.

Have you tried just ramping up the DRAM voltage?

its a crappy OEM board. The only thing the BIOS is good for is viewing voltages/temps and disabling serial ports, floppy ports etc. Take a look at the manual.

but like i say, all sticks are rated to do 200mhz 3-3-3-8 @ 2.5v, and memtest shows all the modules are running at exactly that.

tested all three sticks in the second slot, all passed.

I also tried a working generic 1gb module boot, and the board wouldn't detect it(fans spin and board beeps rapidly). It claims to support a max of 2gb, so this strikes me as odd.

but yeah, if it works with single slots, but not two slots is it the memory controller?
