Quick Kitten question!

I am getting the urge for a kitten, I have 3 year cat who I love to bits. Got her from a rescue center around 6 months ago and would just love her to be a bit more playful. But I don't think she has it in her, bless her.

Don't know how she would take to a kitten though.

Picking him up tomorrow evening after work, it will be about an hours drive so im a bit concerned about how he will be in the car, hopefully its not too stressful, and he falls asleep or something? Any tips for making it easier on him?

Hopefully he doesnt go poop!

Mine were fine in the car on their way home. I put a blanket in the cat box, and put the box on the seat in the front of the car so they could see me. They didn't like being shut in, but weren't scared or anything. Try and relax, as they will pick up on your mood as well :)

I was given a cardboard carrier to transport my rescue cat but I suspect being over 2 years old she was a little easier with the ride home. She meowed a bit but soft words and letting sniff my hand made the shirt journey easier for her.
Fool that I was and had not bought a proper carrier which would have let her see out.

But as knip has said relax as they will pick up on any tension which will make for the kitten a not so nice situation worse.

We expect many photos later of her checking out her new home.

Ours loved it on the way home, 2 of them in a small cage type carry case with a blanket in, they were climbing up the sides (And getting thrown off every time I braked etc..) and just running around like some mad fairground ride!

They hate it as adults though, Ben becomes a Soprano Superstar on the 3 minute drive to the vets!

Thanks guys! We brought a cat box the other night so will pop something comfy i there for him, it also came with a little fixed food dish so maybe ill put some dry in there or something?

Black talent :D sounds more fitting to a race horse :( but nice spot!

I quite likr Morgan for some reason

This is what I have on my window atm (when my cats aren't laid on it asleep)

WIll be planted outside when it gets warmer.

Nepeta Cataria :P

We picked him up last night!! Was fine in the car, a little cry here and there but he slept most of the time really

When we got him home we just placed the box in the corner with the door open and gave him some space, within 10 minutes he was exploring the room, running up to and away from us etc. Then he was really playful :) and towards the end of the night he hopped up on the sofa with us and purred away :)

We left him in the kitchen over night and will do for a while until hes used to where all his bits are

Hadnt been to the loo yet when i left this morning but he almost did, got in the tray and dug about then just hopped back out again :D

Squeeeeeeee! Very cute!

He'll go when he's ready, maybe clean the bits up with the wee now and it'll make him keener to go have a number 2 when he's ready :)

(Still say you should call him Dave :D )

Awwwwww look at the cute lil puss :) Don't worry about the pooping (or lack thereof), like you said, stress and all :)

Thanks guys putting my mind at ease there, all new to this! Hes happy as larry so its not causing any issues, just expected to see it by now :P

Hes just wolfed down his bowl of food now so thats good! Seems keen on both wet and dry so ive put a very tiny bit of dry out too just for if he gets peckish. He was fine last night in the kitchen, had a little cry when we first put him in but didnt last long and was fast asleep when i went in there this morning

Looks like a gorgeous little fluffball, nice to see he is settling well and all is going well!

Lola is sitting in here with me & says to say "prrmiaow" I think they are plotting something!

Be careful of leaving a "tiny bit of dry food out just in case he gets peckish" as it can encourage over eating as I found out. When a kitten maybe 3 or four small meals a day reducing to a couple of set times a day. Cats like structure when it comes to feeding. I discovered yesterday that mine will not eat out of her bowl if it is not in it's usual place. I had a engineer fitting my fibre broadband in the corner where her bowls are. So as it coincided with her feeding time and she had made it plain she was hungry I moved her bowl elsewhere, she sniffed gave me a dirty look and walk off in a huff.

Enjoy your new family member he looks gorgeous.
