Quick mobo build question

I'm building my first ever PC. The Asus mobo has a heatsink part next to the PCI lanes. The top of this heatsink is a flat area (with Asus written on it) It has a plastic sticky sheet across it. Should this be left on? Or removed??

EDIT: Oops - First build you say !!!! Pics of the build and I'm sure we'll help you through it. Well at least they'll be folk along who'll be a lot more helpful than myself

It's actually not even my build. I have a friend who had to fire his apprentice, so asked me to come in and fill in, answer phones etc. Anyway, first thing he did was dump an entire new build of components on the desk and said "build that, I'm out to a meeting" Eek!

A piece of clear plastic on a motherboard shouldn't have a purpose or function, right ?

long as it doesnt have "you void your warrenty by removing this" on you should be fine.

Yes that makes sense. But I've learned there's a fine line between initiative and incorrect assumptions, regardless of common sense.

Another question: There is an 8 pin power socket near the top of the mobo (manual calls this EATX12v) but I don't have a plug on the psu to go into this?

There is a 4 socket plug which will fit. The system build guide on here says sometimes there are 8 / 4 or often there is none. Should I leave it free or plug the 4 socket plug I have into it?

well done, always easier/better to ask rather than stuff up, why take the risk if your not sure.

Thanks for the help. Installing windows as I type. Quite shocked it all worked first time tbh.

CPU idle temp seems a little high (46 deg) but then the case only has one fan, and the ambient temp in this office is pretty high.

Has given me the confidence to build my own now - at least this build didn't belong to me, so I got a dry run
