just a quick mot question... If I get my car tested before my current MOT runs out and it fails does that make my car unroadworthy or I can I still use it until the current certificate expires?

Depends what it fails on. If there's anything that the tester deems to be "dangerous", then the car shouldn't be used on the road. If not, then I think that the older MOT counts, plenty of people get their car tested a couple of weeks before the old one runs out, just incase it fails
Question is, now that the MOT's are computer records, does the fail replace your last MOT on the database, or is it added as a new entry, and/or does a fail void the previous record.
The paper certificate itself is meaningless these days, its only there to remind the owner when the next test is due. Its the computer info that is important.
i believe your existing certificate still stands unless the tester revokes it if the car is dangerously unroadworthy
dont think they'd need to record an MOT failure would they, unless it was the kind of the above ? I only think its the issuing of the certificate thats recorded in the computer database.
