I've just upgraded my opteron 146 to a 165, and before begining stress testing I'd like to know what temps should I be looking for?

CPU and PWMIC please.

Cheers

I've done a quick prime since first posting, the CPU temp levelled off at 52C with the PWM's hitting 55C, so hopefully this should be ok, if it's stable at this I'll try for more of an OC.

Cheers :)

Sorry, should have posted full details to start with -

Opteron 165 - CCBBE 0610DPMW
Cooling with Freezer 64 Pro
Running 1.4v

Currently running at 2.8ghz (and failing prime, but rigs only been running for about an hour so still very early days)

/edit - Primed for 15 hours without error, CPU @ 51C PWM @ 63C :D

Sorry to bring back an old thread, but I have just bought a 165 and have the same cooler...

sepulchre, what speed and temperatures did you get it to in the end?
Take a look HERE.

I've just sold mine which did 2.95ghz @ 1.4v (it was willing to go way further but only had a typhoon and it got a little hot)! Removal of the IHS plus water cooling or a tuniq would probably help!

Have run the chip 24/7 @ 2.8ghz (stock volts).

If you've got a good one you should be able to run it at these speeds too under your freezer 64. :)

Depends if my GA K8NXP-9 likes those FSBs :p

Also, my CPU is the CCBBE 0610DPMW so should be able to reach those speeds :)

I got it to 2.9Ghz stable, but it was getting a little toasty at that so I dropped it back to 2.8. I've been running it since without any problems. Better cooling, and by that I mean a case where air actually flows rather than in my wavemaster in which it doesn't would probably help.

good luck with the OC :D

edit...sorry it runs under load at 2.8Ghz @ 42C, its actually the PWM/Chipset which got to toasty for my liking at 2.9Ghz, I think these went up to around 60C, but I've been told this is fine on a DFI board, no one has told me different yet

Just have fun with it!

I loved clocking mine! I'm defecting to C2D territory to see what it's like on the other side! But tbh i had an absolute blast squeezing every last bit of performance from my 939 kit!

Enjoy!

@ sepulchre: nice clock btw! They do get hot over 2.8 don't they!

Got the typhoon incase i was ever brave enough to remove the IHS but i totally chickened out!!! :p

Cheers m8, would have liked to hit 3Ghz which I think the chip could have managed, but the PC runs everything as quick as I need just now..... but that 3Ghz is tempting :D

I have just got back to Uni, and fitted my Opteron 165 :)

I managed to whack it really quickly to 2.7Ghz with temperatures reaching 55 degrees on each core when Priming them! I will push it further when I get a new heatsink :D

For £75 (what I spent on it), 2.7Ghz is bloody good :)

Yeah definately a nice little upgrade there :) Push it to 3ghz :D

Best of luck to you m8. I've had mine at 2.9Ghz for the last couple of weeks without any problems, so maybe 3Ghz might still be on the table for me as well :D
