Right I have just changed the cpu fsb to 220, so the original 2.4ghz cpu speed is now 2.6ghz, but I cant find the ram multiplier option anywhere in the bios (I have just oc'd my bros core2due on a ds4 and the option was in that bios but dosent appear to be in mine) So in cpu-z my ram is now running at 220mhz instead of 200mhz. How much do you think i can push this ram, idealy i would like the cpu at 2.8ghz, which would mean the ram would be at 233mhz. Is this ok? Do i need to adjust the timings of the ram? they are at default 2-3-3-5, Need to change any volts e.t.c.

Ok Specs: Asus A8N-Sli SE board, Amd 64 4000+, OCZ 2GB (2 x 1GB) PC3200 Dual Channel Platinum Series EL-DDR CAS2, Artic Cooling Freezer 64.

Also: Idle temps at stock 35, Idle temps at 2.6ghz = 41, Load temps at stock = 44, load temps at 2.6ghz = 51.

Cheers.

Your ram is not at 220 mhz its actually at 440mhz (DDR). Try it at 2.8 but you may have to find the memory dividers or at the very least slacken of those timings a little.

ah ok, guess ill have to find a source which tells me where the option is, although i have looked completely through the bios 3 times now :( what should i slacken the timings to? i have seen 5-5-5-15 pop up quite a few times, what exactly does this do? slow the ram down?

OK, those are timings (5-5-5-5-5-whatever), the ram you have in your sig is top end stuff great for oc'ing.

Best advice really is to read the overclocking guide, before I really understood overclocking I used to go around forums asking for BIOS settings, there is no Best BIOS is the one that suits you :)

The ram IS running 220 mhz. You can call it DDR 440 if you want, but it means the same thing as 220.

Drop the timings to 3,3,3,x and you should make 233 fsb quite easily. Shouldnt need a voltage bump, but if you see signs of instability then it might be worth bumping the voltage a touch.
You've probably seen 5,5,5,x timings associated more with DDR2 rather than DDR1. Due to the higher FSB's DDR2 runs (over 600 FSB in some cases) the slacker timings are outweighed by the massive bus speeds. With DDR1 you'll loose LOADS of performance running latencies that loose.

yer i meant what value, but nevermind i left it at 5, so 3-3-3-5, and the fsb on 233x12=2.8ghz, IT passed the cpu and ram test but randomly restarted twice whilst i was playing CS:S, so i have downed it to 2.7ghz and it seems stable.

Try the 5 value at 8, and bump the vdimm a bit. You may also want to bump the vcore a little. You should be able to get that cpu stable at 2.8 :D

At 220 FSB 1:1 this means the memory is at 440 data speed (external) with a 220 clockspeed (internal) if I understand DDR2 correctly.

To the OP : Did you manage to find the dividers?
