Quick paypal query

backstory:
Ive bought an item off ebay, the person has 0 feedback. Ive sent the money to paypal through ebay. He is claiming he used the wrong email on ebay and gave me another email with his name in it.

quesiton:
My question being, if you received a paypal payment and the email it was sent to was not associated with a paypal account could that person still accept the paypal payment in some form? Ive no experience with that scenario tbh.

If he adds his eBay email address as an email address within his Paypal account the amount will appear

For an ebay transaction, do not send money to a paypal account not linked to ebay.

You have been scammed and will never see the item or your money again.

If you send me £100 to my paypal I can tell you how to avoid this again in future.

Yeah as soon as he said he said he had setup the wrong email I considered it a scam. Im trying to get a landline number off him, and ive told him to either create a paypal account using the email he supplied to ebay or add that email to his current paypal account. Well see if i get a reply.

Thanks amb, this worked and the payment went through. As his ebay and paypal accounts are now linked i feel safe that i can make a claim should he decide to scam me.
