Quick plumbing related question

Ok so lets say you disconnect a waste pipe from a washing machine, you then have a connector in your sink waste pipe that needs plugging otherwise water pours out of it when you use the sink, what is the bit called? A plug? A cap?

Do you mean a spigot cap for a washing machine trap?

Edit: Or is it simply and end cap for a trap?
