Silly question, i know but i'm at work and can't check.. An HDMI lead on the PS3 is special, is it not? Meaning it uses it's own special connector at one end.. Not just a regular HDMI male to male ? Reason i ask is a guy from work is telling me that's he's pretty sure it uses just a regular HDMI, and I'm saying I'm pretty sure it's not..

But then again, i could be wrong !

bog standard HDMI to HDMI lead.

anticonscience: i tried to use mine from the 360 with no luck what so ever

So let me ask this.. The regular component lead i use to connect is actually HDMI one end, and component on the other? Thus the PS2 and even PS1 used HDMI ? Since the port was the same..

PS3 has a multi-av out port (Sony proprietary) and a hdmi port. The cable in the box is multi-av-> (composite and audio)*and you can buy others for s-video,rgb scart and component.

edit:
also rgb scart

He's getting confused between hdmi and multi-av.

Yes that's it exactly. Indeed I am getting confused.. I'm using the multi-av lead to component myself, and was under the impression that you req'd a mult-av connector at one end and an HDMI at the other. Evidently i am wrong. So my work buddy is right and i shall go give him the good news that any old HDMI 1.3a lead will do. Since I;ve never had use for an HDMI connector on my PS3, i've never looked for it.

Not sure how you ever managed to miss the HDMI port to be honest :p

As you can see, there's seperate ports there.
