Wanting to get a PS3 ordered but need to know how I can set it up with my PC setup...

Currently have PC and xbox wired into a vga switch and phono cables linked up to my speakers.

Is it possible to use hdmi to output video and use an AV cable at the same time to output audio VIA phono cables?

Ta

You can set the output for the speakers in the 'XMB', so it can go through the HDMI cable, or through the Av cable, Optical, etc...

So, YES :)

120gb.

Just to check, I can plug a component cable into the AV port and only output the audio but output the video to HDMI via a HDMI to DVI cable?

Yeah that's what I'm doing except I'm outputting sound via optical, you select the audio/video outputs separately so no problems there.

You don't even need to buy a component cable because I think the composite cable that comes with it has the two stereo jacks.

I have mine stood without a stand, though it can wobble a lot (I have mine between my sub and 360 S just incase :p)

Correct on all questions. I had my PS3 hooked up nect to my computer for quite a while. Eventually took it home though as I was getting no work done lol!

Unlucky, picked up a 160 slim with 3 games, 2 controllers and a cooling base on the console sale section for £160 on sat! Some real bargains going at the moment. Console only a month old as well.

Anyways, yes, in the options it goes into a great detail on outputs as I was worried about the same.

My amp has 2 optical inputs, and I have all 3 devices outputting optical (360, PS3, Virgin TV), only the 360 and PS3 shut off their optical out when off (standby) so those 2 go to a optical splitter which connects to 1 of the 2 optical inputs on the AMP. The Virgin TV box uses the second optical input on the AMP via direct optical cable. All 3 devices are then connected to the TV via HDMI and the TV sound disabled...

Lot's of tinkering to get the setup correct (wiring is only the start!) but have had no issues thus far :D

Meh, I ordered a stand anyway, makes it look better I think.

Can't wait, ordered black ops, resistance, killzone 2 and MGS4. Just not sure what's going to get here and when.
