Just nipped into town in my lunch hour and a certain never-had-sex named shop is selling the new PSP Slim & Lite for £120 with a free game, or £150 for a slightly spicier choice of game and an "entertainment" pack (or something like that).

I couldn't see what the extras were in the entertainment pack were - anyone have any ideas?

The game choices with the £120 bundle included Ridge Racer 2, is that any good? Anyone care to give me a rough list of what current games are good/poor for the PSP? That way I can take a list with me and work out what's good/bad/ugly etc..

Also, what's the situation with web browsing in it - is it a fully fledged web browser or is is crippled to Sony sites? Is there a difference between the original PSP and the new SnL one when it comes to web browsing?

Thanks for reading.. I am looking to nip in town after work and purchase so I'm looking for answers this avo :)

The web browser is pretty much fully functional, it even supports flash. Although I find it too slow to be particularly useful.

The only game I have is Metal Gear Solid Portable Ops. If you like MGS it's a must really. It's not quite the same as the PS ones, but I think the differences just make it better.

the entertainment pack will probably consist of:

headphones
UMD cases
protective sleeve
possibly a s****y sized memory card.

How bad is it, *really* bad or useful enough if I'm sitting in the living room just wanting to browse the BBC site for example?

That's pretty much what I thought.. I believe you can use normal headphones, I don't need UMD cases and a protective sleeve.. I'll pick one up seperately! As for memory stick, a 4GB one is a must I think, so it doesn't look like the higher priced bundle is all that much use for me :p

I can't remember which game options come with the £120 bundle, one of them was Ridge Racer 2 but can't remember the other two :(

The browser is good, and once you get used to it, it works very well, but it isn't good for all pages etc. It is better than the DS one, thats for sure.

Not used the browser for a while now, but I had it previously set to BBC news for my homepage and it worked fine just for viewing stories etc. The biggest pain is there is not much RAM that the browser uses, so I used to get a messages saying "out of memory" when clicking some links. Normally on image intensive pages. I think this has been alleviated in newer firmwares, but ultimately you will still get the error as it is a tabbed browser supporting 3 simultaneous tabs, so it wont have enough RAM to view 3 image heavy pages at once etc. I know the Slim version has more RAm, but I believe the browser does not use this extra RAM.

It's better than the DS browser, and better than the pocket IE on most smartphones in my opinion. And it has a nice sized screen for web browsing IMO.

hope this helps...

I bought a S&L last week and now have the following games:-

Ridge Racer 2, Burnout Legends and Wipeout. All of these games have excellent graphics and excellent gameplay (if you like racing games)

Also have Lego Stawars, Lumines and World Snooker. I'ver not tried any of these games yet.

Your best bet is to check out the reviews on one of the game sites, I'm not sure if I can post a link for this due to the strict rules. If you do a search on google for one of these games you will probably find the site.

The deal I got was a Black Slim PSP, essentials kit (Case, UMD cases, Screen Protector, strap, car charger, USB lead), Lego Starwars and Ridge Racer 2 for £129 - not sure if this deal is still on though.

Try going to Gamerankings.com. They even have a list of the top games, which you can filter by PSP, so you can see real fast which you should be thinking of getting.
