Hi,

I've just picked up a cheap PSU for an old machine, but got it home and found it has a 24pin motherboard connector - the motherboard has an old 20pin connector.

Any idea if I can get a convertor for this (couldn't see one listed at the electronics store site I looked at) or am I going to have to take it back?

cheers

The 4 pin connector should come away from the 20 pin connector making the 24 pin into a 20 pin to be backwards compatable with older motherboards.

Two main options, either get an adapter like this one or leave 4 pins overhanging if there is space to the side of the power connector. Either option would work. :)

Ah, sweet - I think I'll get the adaptor, but which side are the spare pins on (to overhang), just out of interest?

Sorry I can't remember offhand but there are a few people who have done it so perhaps one of them will post to let you know. :)
