for a three monitor eyefinity setup using two 6870 in Crossfire, do you need a display port adaptor? passive or active?

The thing is, thats a displayport to dvi adaptor, the new AMD cards are mini displayports.

Unless they provide a mini displayport to displayport then you can plug in your displayport to dvi...damn seems overly complicated.

Can't one of the DVI's on the 2nd 6870 be used, or is that too optimistic

Now please, PLEASE don't take this as gospel, the law, the written word of an expert or anything of the sort, but I THINK that you can run two monitors off one card and the other off the other card without the need for any displayport adapter shenanigans. I've never done it, I'd always recommend a single card over two individual cards but I think the displayport adaptor thing was only needed for eyefinity on a single card. MAYBE.
