Quick question about beef steak colour

there are other types of beans that arent baked beans ? some nice broad beens would be lovely with steak.

No, it's meant to be brown but supermarkets put stupid agents on to stop oxidisation that turns it brown.
As long as it smells fine, it will be fine.

No we don't :p

The standard supermarket pack is filled with a nitrogen based gas mix to stop as you say the oxidation of the meat.

The discolouration is most likely from when the meat has touched the film at some point.

If your shop is spraying meat then you need to find one with a better ethical policy.

Knew they did something..

Well I cooked it for about a min on each side, then an extra 30 secs on one side. Although I discovered there was a large chunk of it that was extremely rare, so i put it back on for 30 secs :p

I had marinaded it with dark soy sauce and pepper. Then ate it with asparagus and a large home baked white baguette :)
