Quick question about gamertag

Please don't ask about the details

I want to change my gamertag. To make this simple, say the gamertag I own the now is BB and the gamertag I want to change it to is AA. I own both accounts which have the same name, if I delete AA does that mean I can change BB to AA? Or if I delete the account does the gamertag stay locked?

Sorry I don't know the answer but I'm interested because I have a US gamertag that I want to use as my UK one :confused:

Doesn't work

I closed the Windows Live ID account I had with the gamertag but the gamertag still exists.

Bummer, think you'll have to call Support and play thick, saying you pressed the wrong button, see if they can recover it for you, or ask them how to do the change (I know it costs 800 points to change your Gamertag tho

you haven't purchased a gamer tag with a high score to use as your own have you?

Nope, once a gamertag is made, it cannot be recreated. It's why I am Mr Tob3z instead of Tob3z. I made Tob3z on the original Xbox, let it expire, then went to purchase it when I got my 360 but nooooo.

Can you not change BB to CC and then change AA to BB?

It will cost more but should work ok.

I wanted to work around it so I could pay 800 points instead of 1600.

Okay I closed the Windows Live ID associated with the gamertag but I can still login with it. I can probably spend 1600 points to change it x_X

Been wanting to change mine from ZoGgEr to Zogger for ages but I'm concerned that changing it to something else will leave Zogger locked (and would also cost 1600 points) :s

I think it should be okay.

I would much prefer if the Live model was much more like steam. With steam I just have my email as my login and then I can change my name to anything online.
