Hey guys. I've had something imported from America, and I've been checking the tracking daily. I just checked and it says:

Out of Foreign Customs, August 26, 2009, 3:33 pm, GREAT BRITAIN
Into Foreign Customs, August 24, 2009, 9:17 am, GREAT BRITAIN
Arrived Abroad, August 24, 2009, 9:15 am, GREAT BRITAIN
International Dispatch, August 19, 2009, 9:07 am, FOREIGN CENTERJERSEY CITY NJ 099
Arrival
Acceptance, August 13, 2009, 4:01 pm, QUEENSBURY, NY 12804

Since it says out of customs, does it mean I won't have to pay import tax/handling fees? I haven't had a letter yet, so I'm just wondering if it can still come seeing as it's out of customs.

Thanks

We got one today without any letter, even though it has a custom label on it - very odd as it says on it quite clearly "don't deliver until duties paid".

Last time we got a letter and had to pay it at the post office before getting the parcel.

Yeah I've had a few letters before when importing from America. I was just wondering if it's still possible that I'd have to pay even though it's out of customs with no letter.

No way to say. Just because it has left customs doesn't mean there's no charge as if there is it will probably be held at your Delivery Office (not at customs) until you pay, (if they bother as per the posting above :))

On the other hand you could be in luck and there's no charge and it'll just be delivered.

Yes. Its possible. All it means is that customs have pushed it to parcelfarce, who will then proceed to bill you £14.50 for the pleasure of just picking it up. DESPITE the fact that postage has already been paid. Its a rip off, its illegal and the govrnment refuse to do anything about it as its apparently not in the publics interest!

Aw. :(

Oh well. I didn't have to pay with the last parcel I got from America which is pretty much the exact same size/weight/value so maybe I'll get (extremely) lucky again.
