Hi all, ive build my own custom pcs a few times now, and have always installed the heatsink with the motherboard outside of the tower.

anyway i ordered some new parts for a new build, everything has came apart from the cpu, which should be tomorrow.

So i figured i might be able to save some time on the build, by doing most tonight. so basically if i attached the TRUE backplate, put the standoffs in the case, drop the motherboard in, attach the sound card, graphics card, hard drive/dvd drive sata, power/reset pins etc, ram and other pci fans, then tomorrow i could just drop in the cpu, stick some mx-2 paste on and screw on the heatsink, then connect the motherboard power leads.

so basically i just wanted to know if i can attach the TRUE 120 heatsink with the motherboard in the case?? or should i just wait and have it all to do tomorrow?

Your thoughts please, thanks!

You cant get it to fit inside the case, you need get a good hold onto the base when you install a true to get the force to get the screws on properly, from my experience.

thats what i thought, yeah it requires a canny push down for the screws to meet.

oh well, not a lot i can do until the cpu arrives then.

cheers
