Quick question about my install..

Im just attaching the fan to my motherboard and am not sure which way it should face.

I have an Antec 300 case with a Akasa AK-CCX-4002HP Venom CPU Cooler.

should I point it down over the pci slots or towards the rear case fan?
 
the panel at the back with the spaces for the usb/ps2 etc does not match up with the ports on the motherboard. should I take it out and replace it?
 
Yea, Replace it with the IO shield that come with your motherboard.

To remove it, place your finger on the outside near the edges and push firmly inwards and it'll pop right out. Just reverse the procedure for the new one.

cool will do. Just to check, I only used a very small amount of thermal paste. Far less than the whole of the little packet. is that ok?

Various beliefs on this but either a blob the size of a grain of rice or spread the blob out over the die with a blade,stanley or single edge razor
edit:unless the tim(compound) is already pre applied
 
right. i think ive got everything in now!

found getting the cables tidy difficult as the power supply is upside down on the bottom and so the little space for the cables is on the wrong side. seems like a mess to me!

one other thing, my Samsung SpinPoint F3 1TB SATA-II 32MB Cache HDD is not compatible with 6GB/s is it?
 
just realized there is not built in vga or other visual out out!!!!

it seems to be working but I cant see anything. doh!
 
i didnt forget as such. I was intending to buy one when I next get paid. every other computer I have owned has had a vga port on the mobo.
