hi all,

was just wondering. i have been using windows 7 on a partition on my macbook pro for the past year or so. however i have recently purchased/built a gaming desktop and want to use this copy of windows on it. will removing said partition automatically unistall and remove the licensing of this copy of windows on my mac and allow me to install on my new pc? because it is only licensed for use on one machine, and it would be crazy to purchase a new os for my new system.

thanks for any help! :)

It won't remove the licensing. If that happened you'd never have to buy another copy of Windows. If it's an OEM copy of Windows, I'm sure it's tied to the motherboard it's activated on. If it's a retail copy then it shouldn't be a problem activating it to another machine.

just to clarify mate. it is a retail copy installed on a a seperate partition. still have snow leapord installed on the other one. asked on the windows software forum page, and they seemed to say removing the partition is enough to un-install the os, meaning i can license it for use on a new pc. is that not right?
