Hello all.

I know this has probably been discussed already but does anyone know when RAM prices will fall (approximately) ? And are they likely to increase again before they do start to fall? Cheers guys.

Unlikely for years. The need for DC capacity is insatiable with no end in sight.

Some think prices will come down once the AI market goes pop. But that's not happening from what I'm seeing across industries.

Some think prices will come down once more production capacity comes online, but that will take years and the cabel of manufacturers have an interest in not making more DRAM.

So should I purchase more RAM now before they go up again?

In the Year of Darkness 2029, the rulers of this planet devised the ultimate plan.
They would reshape the
Future by changing the Past...

If you need more RAM now, like for your work because you're running out with compute heavy stuff, then I'd just buy it now. Grab the best deal you can get.

If you don't need the RAM and you're buying speculatively for "future proofing" purposes, then there's little point locking the high price in.

The worst of the increases seems to be over and the bubble could pop tomorrow, but most sources (memory manufacturers, so not very reliable, for obvious reasons) are saying that big drops won't happen until at least mid-2027, maybe 2028-2029. More capacity is coming online, but not by tomorrow and I'm sure they're all enjoying the high margins.

The price is one element, the problem now is you could have all the money in the world but the supply chains are scarce. We're not anticipating supplies getting back to normal levels until 2028.

RAM and SSD prices will continue to rise, but will not fall, in the next 7 months.

Samsung expected 2027 shortages will be worse than 2026.

Silicon Motion's CEO Chia-Chang Gou said memory and SSD shortages are expected to last till 2028.

OcUK still has 16G kits sub £200 and the odd DDR5 32G kit at £299, as older stocks, 32G is heading on average closer to £350-£450 so anything below that is an OK buy in current climate.

seen other places doing 32gb of ddr4 for as low as £130 so its just a case of when you see a deal bag it until the prices right themselves.
