I'll definitely be getting this machine, you can put it in anything, from a car to a remote controlled helicopter or turn it into a fully functioning computer or a Media centre for your television and tell it what do to. You can carry it round with you in a little case and use it as a portable computer by plugging it into any monitor, the possibilities are endless and I'm really excited about it.
I know Raspberri pi is meant to change things and educate people about programming e.t.c, but could phones do the same thing, For example the galaxy s II, it has an Arm chip, HDMI out, wifi, USB ports, a big hard drive, a lot of ram and an audio jack. I know the raspberry's cheap but couldn't you program a phone to do the same thing? Wouldn't all the programs done for the raspberry work on any phone with an Arm chip and just adding work arounds for the HDMI/wifi? Wouldn't you be able to run an OS off a phone, and say use the phone as a computer and plug it into a TV? I used to have a Nokia N8 and I plugged my mouse and keyboard into it and hooked it up to a TV and used it as a computer, but it wasn't very good because of Symbian.
So would you be able to put linux (lets say fedora, because android is based on linux) on to a smartphone and use it as a proper computer? and if this is possible, why hasn't it been attempted? (if it has, I've not heard of it yet) the galaxy has 1.2Ghz dual core processor with a 1GB ram, 16GB memory and HDMI/dedicated graphics. Its a perfect candidate for a computer and you could take it anywhere with you.
One last question, would the raspberry pi run Ubuntu?
Sorry if this is in the wrong section.
Thanks.
