Is getting the 512mb version really worth it? ive heard that i should save money by just getting the 256mb version, would it really make a big difference in gaming? say BF2? same thing as the 7600GS the 512mb version really make a big difference?

Don't think it will make a (performance) difference? Besides the X1600 range is not that good, the NVIDIA's in the same range are better (see here) :)

the 7600GT > X1650XT > X1600XT > 7600GS > X1650 pro > X1600 pro :p that just about sums it up, however for around 120-ish you can have yourself a 7900GS (PCI-E only i believe) which will own all of them ;)

As above x1600's are utter pants, even worse if its the pro as that gets whooped of the 6600 GT, good choice on the 7600gs a much better card than that heap. :)

No.

In fact 512meg is only really worth it on high end cards (x1900xt or above), and even then the performance increase isn't all that much. Reason being that the extra memory will only help at high resolution, which will be unplayable anyway on low/midrange cards.
