Hello.

I currently just use the standard Telewest modem for my connection, but have just bought an XBOX 360, so want to have my PC and XBOX connected at the same time. I have a Linksys BEFSR41W Router.

I am a bit confused though, as the cable that goes to my modem doesn't plug in anywhere on the router, so do I just plug an ethernet thing from the modem to the router? Because I though the router would replace the modem.

Should I do it this way?

Yep that would be the way to go. There should be a RJ45 connection that slightly separated from the rest or marked "internet". If in doubt, have a look here

Awesome, thanks guys. I was confused because as I said I thought the router would replace the Modem.

Hope it's easy to set up :)

Thanks again.

Yep, thats often the case with ADSL routers. I'ts actually one of the reasons I prefer cable tbh, less expensive routers and not so many fiddly PPPoE/PPPoA settings, just straight forward ethernet*

(except if you have to access the cable modem's web interface, which is only required if you are collecting logs or setting your upstream channel)

Well I don't know what that means, so it's unlikely.

Will it pretty much be plug in and it will work?

I will go and do it in a sec, i just can't be bothered right now
