Quick question, does Ubuntu 7.10 have anything like Windows' RDC?

¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Basically I want to remotely access an Ubuntu rig, in a similar way to the Windows "Remote desktop connection".

Is this turned on my default and if not, is it very difficult to set up? I seem to remember something called realvnc or ultravnc or something like that. Would this work?

Take a look in System -> Preferences -> Remote Desktop

There's loads of guides for getting it to work available through your favourite search engine.

Try running the FreeNX server on your Ubuntu box, and using the official NoMachine client on Windows to view it.

I'll just use the built in VNC (vino?) thing then... Would I have to use another client in Windows XP to connect to the Ubuntu machine, or could I just use "Remote Desktop Connection"

You'll need to use a different application than Microsoft's Remote Desktop Connection, as it uses a different protocol.
