Hey All,

Quick question on a price I was quoted I feel it's quite high but I could be wrong.

How Much should I be looking at for new brake pads and disks front and back and both the front Anti roll bar links replaced? I got quoted £700 but I feel this OTT.

Cheers in advanced.

What is it?

£700 for discs and pads all round on an old Citroen C1 is probably a bit of a **** take.

£700 for discs and pads all round on a Porsche 911 GT3 RS is a bargain.

forgot to say it's a Mercedes A180 on a 17 plate. not being done at a dealer, local garage price.

That price is about expected for a main dealer, using original parts.

You'll get a cheaper price at an independent using third party parts.

I thought this also, would price would you suggest is reasonable? I'll obviously shop about local independants, but I dont want to get ripped off.

Making some very broad assumptions, I would guess it would be somewhere in the region of £250-£300 for the parts (discs, pads, wear sensors, 2x drop links), using a good quality pattern part, plus the labour. Maybe somewhere in the region of 450-500 with labour? Depends on how long it takes on that specific car.

TBH, its been a while since I've been to a garage for this sort of work so perhaps I'm out of touch.

So it is a local garage... charging £700. Official parts, or OEM equivalanet? Seems slightly high to me but not extortionate. I just googled Mercedes A180 2017 brake discs and there are various options (I don't know what diameter you have). But you can get a full set of mintex for like £300. So if brakes are £300 as an example, plus your drop links, plus fitting... I'm with @SonicSW20 I'd have thought £500 is more reasonable.

Thanks to you both for getting back to me, I'd assume he'd be using OEM parts, £450 to £500 was the figure I was thinking so it's good to know at least two other people are on the same price. I'll try a few more garages and get some quotes.

For a dealer that would be a bargain. You're looking at the best part of a grand just for the brakes.

Hyundai quoted me £900 for discs and pads all round 18 months ago on an i20

£500 - £600 typically at a independent, fortune at a dealer.

I remember years ago Toyota trying to charge my sister £350 for front discs and pads on a Yaris.

Can save yourself a good chunk and learn a new skill of course, but it's not for everyone.
