Hi guys,

Question for you. I am looking at purchasing a BenQ "Full HD" monitor, but I'm getting a little confused I think. I mean if the Monitor can support full 1080p HD, but only has a DVI-D and VGA connection - how can it receive full HD?

For example, I'd run a cable from the HDMI port on my graphics card to the DVI-D port on the monitor but as I'm not connecting to the monitor via HDMI I how can it show full HD?

Cheers.

The monitor has a resolution of 1920x1080 - which is the standard for "Full HD"

As for connection, even VGA can carry this resolution correctly.

DVI-D is actually electronically compatible with HDMI, the pins are the same, just in a different configuration (and DVI does away with the sound). Hence the quality of an image via DVi is identical to one via HDMI. Both support HDCP for blu rays as well.

Do you have a DVI-D (male) to DVI-D (male) cable to connect your monitor to your graphics card.

If I remember correctly, I connected my previous 1920 monitor via a HDMI to DVI-D (i think it was) cable.
