Quick question re rust

Well I'm looking at getting a new car and have found one I like. Thing is being a complete noob, I'm not sure if this rust is serious or just standard?

If someone could tell me that would be great. I personally think that its just cosmetic weathering but if someone could give an opinion that would be great

I was looking at the orangeness of the metal and assuming it was rust?

As I said I'm a noob when it comes to buying cars so just wanted clarification.

Yea its an MX-5. After all that the sill had rust on it and was welded over so I'm giving it a miss.
