I currently have a 320gb wd hdd for Vista and my documents (music, files, etc) on 1 partition, and a 500gb seagate barracuda 7200.10 for storage of movies, videos etc.
I've heard this hard drive is great:

and was considering buying it to replace the 320gb.
Would it be a good idea to create 2 partitions, say 50gb for one and the remaining (900gb or whatever) for the other. To install Vista x64/games/etc on the first partition and keep my main documents/files on the second partition, and have the 500gb and 320gb's as extra storage?
Main concern is I format my computer every 8-12 months so I don't want to have to format the WHOLE 1tb drive, can i "full format" just the first 50gb os partition? and if so, will this affect performance? fragmentation etc? Cos i usually full format the entire hdd for a fresh os installation to be safe..
Thanks.
