Must you have 2 identical cards for a SLI setup. I've got a regular evga Titan and a possibility of getting my hands on a evga Titan which is the super clocked variety.

Thanks

Don't need to be identical no. You don't even have to have the same brand... though of course EVGA are good about watercooling.

Thanks mate

Your answer came through with 30secs to the end of the auction. Picked up the hydro watercooled super clocked Titan for £720

Happy camper. :D

May I also say, the EVGA will not run at those clocks, it will be limited to stock clocks. If you wish to run at overclocked clock speeds you will need to overclock your current card to match the EVGA one.

And I will add you can flash the same BIOS that is on your SC card to your non SC card. I wouldn't bother but just letting you know you can :)

I would reccomend making sure they are running at the same clocks, not sure if nVidia ever sorted it but it used to be that 2 cards in SLI at different clockrates (which could happen) resulted in more significant levels of microstutter than you'd normally get - in some games you'd get a rubber bandy feel like you were taking one step back for every 2 steps forward.

With the 2.0 boost, they run at different clocks in SLI. Never noticed rubber banding and didn't with the 680's in SLI either. Maybe something that was sorted with the frame metering tech?

Thanks for the feedback guys.

Can anyone share tips or links re flashing the non SC to a SC.

I mainly do CUDA based stuff but am interested into doing some research into the bios flashing option.

Managed to pick up the card, fitted it in the rig and guess what.....

That's right the Corsair PSU at 750W just does not have the legs to run both GPUs and the CPU at full pelt. It overheats after 5 mins or so and shuts down.

So... I've now bitten the bullet and ordered a Corsair AX1200i which should be arriving on Wednesday.

I know it's a bit overkill for 2 titans and an overclocked 3930 but I'm looking for as much headroom as I can get to help with fan noise.

It's going to be fun trying to fit it into my case.

I am surprised that PSU wasn't enough. I ran a 3930K @ 1.34V and 2xMSI Lightning 680's (1.3V each) with no problems on a Corsair 750W. I am not that hot on power requirements but do know that Titans use less power than 680's.

I use nvflash (windows version) and never had a problem (flashed many different bios's on 680's/Titans/560TI's). I use nvflash version 5.118.

Save the BIOS from the SC card with GPU-Z
Save the BIOS from the non SC card with GPU-Z

Place nvflash in the root directory of a HDD along with the SC BIOS and I would rename the SC BIOS to something like "newbios"

Run CMD as an Administrator and then go to the HDD with the nvflash and SC BIOS in (example could be D\)

type nvflash -4 -5 -6 newbies.rom and hit enter.

It will start work and let it do its thing.

Any probs, let me know ohhh and for ease, place the card you want flashed in the top PCI-E slot.

Thanks for the info

I was a bit surprised at the CX750M not having the legs as well. I was waiting for the shutdown though as when I started the GPUs crunching and got all 12 threads on the CPU running at 100% the fan on the PSU went into overdrive. It was obviouly struggling with the demands.

Appreciate the info re flashing. it's going to be a royal pain in the a** to move the SC card to the top PCI-E slot. I would have to rip apart the plumbing and to be frank I can't be a*$ed doing again unless it was a major fubar in progress.

Oh hang on a mo.... the car to be flashed IS in the top slot - result.

I'll let you know how I get on. Need to drop off as I've got a cross trainer to move between rooms.

You can flash either card without moving them, it is just easier in the top slot. Follow the on screen instructions carefully and you will have no probs.

A little messing around and voila ... 2 Superclolced Titans.

Time for some stress testing and some benchmarks.

Thanks for the info Gregster.
