thinking of getting either one 640GB HD or two 320GB HD's.

now i hear the 640 has two platters and the 320 one platter. am i right in thinking that two 320's would acheive better performance due to less platters? or would there bascially be no difference to just the one 640? thanks

The drives are the same speed, but with two drives you can spread the load and get better performance as you can read/write to each one at full speed - though it's not going to make much of a difference.
However the 640GB drives are just over a tenner more so it would be silly not to.

yeah two 320GB does come to bout 30 quid more than a single 640GB. just wondered whether it was worth it as you also have backup if one fails.

which is the better out of samsungs 640GB F1 and Western's 640GB?
