Quick question to all parents...

never seen it myself, but my mum saw something like that happen, but the kid was about 2, the car door was open, and the kid was awake.

naturally my mum stood by the car until the carer came back, who i suspect wasnt the carer for much longer.

if i'd have seen something like that i would have done the same (awake or not), and im just a 19 yr old student

Only when i put petrol in the car and i lock the doors when go to pay. he is only 1 so hes not going anywere plus im always in full view of the car.

It's not a case of whether it's legal or not...a sensible parent just wouldn't leave their young child alone under those circumstances! just because it may be legal...it doesn't make it right!
When my kids were young, I have left my kids asleep in the car in my own driveway, where we could see them but, never unattended in a public place!

Please elucidate the risk of leaving children in a locked car in a public car park.

Only if you read it in the most mental fashion possible. Given that the McCanns weren't convicted of that, I think it's fair to say you'd have to go a lot further than leaving your child in the car while you go to the shops to be guilty of that.

And what country did the McCanns kid go missing in?

What a pointless word to use - elucidate. Many more normal words to use... Like explain. Makes you look like you are trying to act more intelligent tbh.

The voice of common sense, (even if you area grammar nazi).

P.S

No Kids, 24.

Surely the voice of common sense is the one pointing out that it can't possibly be a criminal offence to let any child in your care under the age of 16 out of your sight, as has been suggested.

Now, please tell me the risk of leaving a child in a locked car in a public car park.

If you need that explaining to you then i sure do hope you don't have any kids of your own!!

Pay attention, I've already made it clear in this thread that I have at least two.

Still waiting for someone to point out the risk of leaving children in a locked car in a public car park.

Yes, but you are saying it.

I'm guessing this is not directed at me but hey.

OP:

Did you stand around for ages and time how long they were?

Going back to the petrol thing, what muppet said it would be "frowned upon".

Do you drive? The child stands more risk of injury being out the car on the forecourt.

Please explain the risk of letting your children go to the toilet together in maccy d's....

There is next to no risk in doing that, and once my kids are capable of going to the toilet on their own i.e. in terms of opening the doors, locking the cubicles, reaching the taps, etc. then they'll do just that.
