I'm guessing it will but.... I want to format my HDD (I only have one plattered for Windows/games on one partition and everything else on the rest) and was planning on buying an external HDD but now i am thinking to just get a decent internal HDD, install Windows on that then when it's done transfer everything from my old HDD to my new one, format my old one and then just use that for back ups or what ever. That all sounds good doesn't it?

Thanks,

Flare.

I do not understand how you have ensured windows/games is on one platter, do you mean partition? Disk partitions are written across the platters.

You can transfer data onto a new install but the programs will need a reinstall to work under a new windows installation.

You could clone the old installation onto a new disk and then reformat the old one to use for storage and backups.

Yeah that is what i meant, whoops :p

The main reason i want to do all this is to just start from fresh and get rid of any crap. I don't mind installing everying again, it won't take too long.

IF you have steam games you can just so steam appz and delete the .blob resteryfile and steam will reinstall all the files you have in the steam file to your new OS :)
