When i get my new computer, im going to have XP in it for a few months before getting vista, but when you get a new OS does it keep all your saved stuff? or will i need to re-install everything.

Either. You'll have the choice of preforming an upgrade or a full format and install.

Tho a full install is advised to avoid any problems.

ok thanks, would there be any way to keep important files if i do a full format install?

You can copy them to a flashdrive/cd/dvd/another hard drive.
