Hi, I am doing a presentation on car engines and their manufacture tomorrow for uni coursework.

RPM is obviously revs per min, but is this measured in revolutions of crankshaft or the number of otto cycles. As there are 2 revs of crankshaft per otto cycle.

Thanks:D

RPM = Number of Revolutions of the crankshaft/flywheel per minute. Otherwise if you were to measure otto/4stroke instead, then 2stroke engines would be read twice as quick by that logic, and just confuse yourself for a Wankel :p.
