Is the access/write speed loss running 2 sticks instead of 4 in quad noticeable?

basically been offered some cheap DDR4 2 x 8gb and was wondering how much worse off I would be by not having 4 x 4gb.

So you have both the same capacity (16Gb) yet quad vs dual channel operation.

I would keep the 4x4Gb to get maximum potential.

Well I'm building a x99 system and the 2x 8b would be a fair bit cheaper, I just game on my PC and just wondered what the performance loss would be
