...can i build/create a RAID-1 array with 2 different sizes hard disks, say 80 GB + 160 GB (without lossing data currently on 1 HD)? & will there be any left over HD space and can i use it?
In theory I suppose you could create a partition of size equivalent to the smallest drive(maybe leave an extra gb or so just to be safe) and then set the large partition to mirror the original small drive.
I don't know too much about Raid1 arrays but I presume you can build them without wiping the original data on the hard drive, wait for confirmation of that though.
