Hello people,

I have a quick RAID question..I have setup a server HP Proliant ML350 G6 and used the bios (storageworks) to RAID the drives..

I have 2 x disks for OS in RAID 1

2 x disks for logs in RAID1

and 3 x disks for RAID 5.

This has all been setup and confirmed by storage works what RAID level they are each.

Now in windows in order for my drives (other than OS) to be visible I have to format them in disk management...question is choosing Simple Volume should be sufficient? I have already done the RAID via bios but also get options in the os (such as mirror, raid 5, etc) too?

Or do I have to do them in both?

Cheers

Yep, if you've already setup raid in the BIOS, there's no reason (and would likely cause issues) if you set it up in windows as well using the same drives.

Keep them as simple volumes.

If you don't know what dynamic disks are, you don't need them

Ensure you install all the HP management agents, especially the Array Configuration Utility (ACU).
